The narrow width is usually within 500 mm, the wide version up to 1300 mm, and the length generally under 2300 mm.

That is a lot of wires to weld onto the tube. Most manufacturers use multi\u001ewire welding – welding several wires at once. Three machine types are common:

Single\u001ehead welder – one weld head moves along the workpiece.

Gantry welder – two or four weld heads, with the workpiece moving under them.

Weave\u001etype (loom\u001estyle) welder – multiple heads clamp and weld while the workpiece moves upward.

With advances in welding processes and power supply technology, the market has mostly settled on the gantry type and the weave\u001etype. Here is how they compare in real production.

Gantry condenser welder – simple but labor intensive

A gantry welder uses a bridge\u001etype structure with servo\u001edriven workpiece positioning. It usually runs with two or four power supplies (AC mains frequency or medium\u001efrequency DC), and two or four weld heads that press down at the same time. Two operators are typically needed.

How it works:
One operator places the Bond tube onto the fixture. The other picks up steel wires from a bin using a simple suction tool, then lays the wires into the positioning slots. The servo moves the fixture step by step, and the weld heads press down in sequence.

Advantages:

Simple machine structure

Easy to change fixtures for different products

Disadvantages:

Needs two operators

High physical labor – constant loading/unloading

Low efficiency – about 30 panels per hour (for a 2 meter product)

Strong dependency on operator skill – if the operator is not experienced, both output and weld quality drop sharply

Large footprint – roughly 16 m²

Weave type (loom) condenser welder – faster, cleaner, less labor

This machine is designed like a loom: the workpiece moves upward rapidly, while multiple electrodes clamp from front and back. It uses medium\u001efrequency inverter DC power supplies – which gives better energy efficiency, stable weld quality, and works well with today’s thinner wall thicknesses.

How it works:
Only one operator is needed. The operator hangs the Bond tube onto the fixture. The tube automatically moves sideways into the welding area. Steel wires are fed automatically. Multiple weld heads clamp and weld simultaneously, and the workpiece moves upward for high\u001espeed welding.

Advantages:

Low manual labor – the operator only hangs the Bond tube

High efficiency – 47 panels per hour (for a 2\u001emeter product)

Small footprint – only 10 m²

Consistent weld quality with inverter DC power

A design improvement over European weave\u001etype welders
On some older European machines, the steel wire feeding mechanism uses an inclined chute, which tends to jam or misfeed. We have improved this with a rotary table feeder – a two\u001ewheel automatic rotary design that works at high speed. It includes wire presence detection and a multi\u001efeed rejection feature, so you get reliable feeding without overlapping wires or missing wires during fast cycling.

Bottom line

If you are setting up or upgrading a wire\u001etube condenser production line, the choice comes down to volume and labor cost. A gantry welder can work for very low volumes or when labor is extremely cheap, but for most shops today, the weave\u001etype welder delivers better output, lower operating cost, and far less operator fatigue.

And if you have been avoiding weave\u001etype machines because of feeding problems seen on older designs – the rotary table solution has largely solved that.

What we offer – and why it matters for your shop

At Agera, we build both gantry type and weave type condenser welders. But honestly, most of our customers today go straight to the weave type machine – for the reasons you just read: higher output, lower labor, and a much smaller footprint.

Our current weave\u001etype model comes with:

Medium\u001efrequency inverter DC power supplies (energy\u001eefficient, stable, and gentle on thin\u001ewalled tube)

Rotary table wire feeder – no more jamming or missing wires, even at full speed

Single\u001eoperator design – one person hangs the Bond tube, the rest is automatic

Cycle time – 47 panels per hour for a 2\u001emeter product

The gantry welder is still available for shops with very low volume or those who need maximum flexibility for frequent product changeovers.
