Precautions for Using A DC Spot Welding Machine

With the development of resistance welding technology, more and more spot welders are using medium-frequency direct current power supplies. Although the operation of spot welders is relatively simple, incorrect operation can still cause unnecessary harm to the operators or the machines. Below are the precautions for using MFDC spot welders that we have sent to customers who are purchasing dc spot welders. We hope these can be helpful to you who are currently using DC spot welders.

Using A DC Spot Welding Machine

  • There is a power switch of the device to cut off the compressed air and cooling water.
  • If you touch the live part other than the secondary electrode, it will cause fatal electric shock or burn. Do not touch live parts. The design and production of this welding machine have fully considered safety. Please pay attention to the precautions in this manual when using it, otherwise it will cause death or serious injury and other major personal accidents.
  • The construction of the power supply at the input end, the selection of the installation site, the use of high-pressure gas, the storage and configuration of the welding machine, the storage of the workpiece after welding and the disposal of waste, etc., please follow the national standards.
  • Unrelated personnel should not enter the welding workplace.
  • People who use cardiac pacemakers are not allowed to approach the welding machine in use and around the welding workplace without the permission of a doctor. The magnetic field generated when the welding machine is energized will have a negative impact on the action of the pacemaker.
  • In order to ensure safety, please understand the content of this manual correctly, and ask personnel with safe use knowledge and skills to operate this machine.
  • Hands, arms, etc. cannot be inserted between the electrodes, otherwise they will be caught by the electrodes and cause fractures and other injuries.
  • Before power on or gas supply, please confirm the safety around the welding machine.
  • When not in use, please turn off all power, air and water sources.
  • When installing and overhauling, the power supply of the distribution box must be turned off first.
  • Do not use cables with insufficient capacity or damaged insulation sheath conductors.
  • Do not use the welder with the protective cover removed.
  • Use dry insulating gloves.
  • Regular maintenance and inspection, the damaged parts are repaired before use.
  • When not in usethe machine, please turn off all input power.
  • Please have professional qualifications or experienced personnel to install, inspect and maintain the welding machine.

Splashing welding slag will burn the body, and the noise will impair hearing. In order to avoid welding slag, noise, etc. endangering you and others, please use protective equipment.

  • Please wear safety glasses.
  • Please use protective equipment such as protective gloves, long-sleeved clothes and aprons.
  • Set up a protective barrier around the welding place to prevent splash from endangering others.
  • When the noise is loud, please use soundproof appliances.

In order to prevent fire, explosion, rupture and other accidents, please observe the following regulations.

The spattered welding slag and the newly welded workpiece will cause fire; poor cable connection and incomplete contact of the secondary side current circuit will cause electricity to heat up and cause a fire.

  • Please remove the combustibles in the welding place, if it cannot be eliminated, please cover the combustibles with a flame-retardant shield.
  • Do not weld near flammable gases.
  • Do not put the newly welded workpiece near combustibles.
  • The cable connection must be reliably insulated.
  • A fire extinguisher should be placed near the welding workplace.
  • Do not use this machine for operations other than welding.

The following are the experiences we have accumulated over many years in using welding equipment. If you are using a spot welder, please be sure to pay attention to these points. If you are the owner of a factory and your company’s employees are using spot welders, you can use this manual as training material to enable them to use the DC spot welder correctly.
